As NBA training camps approach, it’s only fitting to take a look at each team’s updated rosters. Some franchises will enter the new season with a significantly altered look, while others will retain a resemblance to their previous roster.

In our in-depth analysis of each team, we’ll identify the most underrated and overrated players for the 2024-25 NBA season among the Miami Heat’s rivals.

Underrated: Jrue Holiday

It’s not particularly surprising that Jrue Holiday is considered the Boston Celtics’ most underrated player. However, among the various trades the Celtics made last season, the acquisition of Holiday tends to be overlooked. His contributions to the Celtics’ offense and defense every game are significant and deserve recognition.

His impact on the team’s success in winning an NBA championship this season, particularly in the NBA Finals where he faced a formidable Kyrie Irving, has not received the recognition it deserves.

Overrated: Jayson Tatum

The Celtics are arguably the most talented team in the NBA on paper. Identifying potential gaps in their roster is quite difficult. However, it’s safe to say that Jayson Tatum is one of the most overrated players on the team.

His elite qualities are undeniable, but there seems to be a lack of ability to fully embrace the role of a true superstar. While he won his first title, which allowed him to take some of the pressure off, he did so alongside what many consider to be one of the most talented teams in recent history. He is undoubtedly an excellent player, perhaps even a great player, but he has yet to reach all-time great status or demonstrate a trajectory that suggests he will.
