Even though the regular season is still a few months away, NBA 2K25 is set to release in just a few weeks, meaning basketball fans around the world will at least be able to see their favorite basketball teams return to the court in a virtual setting on September 6.

Recently, 2K Sports released their ratings for all the players that will be featured in the upcoming game, and as is the case with any such list, the consensus sentiment doesn’t seem to be an endorsement, especially when it comes to some specific members Memphis Grizzlies.

But not everything is completely wrong in the ranking published recently, since some players were rated very well. However, others were seen with scandalous ratings on which, naturally, fans did not hesitate to express their opinion.

With that in mind, today we identify three Grizzlies players who received grades that were way too low, way too high, and, excitingly enough, just right.

2K25 Rating: 75

It’s odd to put a negative spin on a Grizzlies player receiving a higher-than-expected grade heading into the 2024-25 season, but, to be fair, 75 might be a bit too high for players like Jake LaRavia.

Make no mistake, the 22-year-old has shown flashes of becoming a solid rotation player during his two seasons with the franchise, particularly in the final 22 games of last season where he averaged 15.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals on 37.7 percent shooting from deep, but flashes are all he’s shown.

Since being selected with the 19th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, LaRavia has yet to prove his ability to produce at consistent levels at the next level and has regularly found himself rotating in and out of the G League during that span.

With all that in mind, how come the promising, yet unproven youngster is only two rating points behind Luke Kennard and Santi Aldama (both 77s), and is only four points behind GG Jackson, a player who has proven himself worthy of being considered a legitimate, must-have talent? some go as far as to put him in the conversation as one of the best second-round picks of all time?
