This is the final game of a six-game homestand and likely the last before the 2025 trade deadline.
If the Pistons can get a few wins here, who knows, maybe they’ll be buyers at the deadline for the first time in ages.
The Hornets are also the closest team to the Pistons in their development as a franchise, and they too are hoping to emerge from the basement and join the ranks of real NBA teams that are trying to win games and aren’t just cannon fodder for the lottery.
This is a real opportunity for the Pistons to get past Charlotte, as they immediately have a four-game road trip with winnable games against the Bulls (x2), Spurs and Hawks.
Capping off a successful home series against Charlotte could be a turning point in the season and, if nothing else, it will likely tell us which direction they are headed.
