Despite beat the Dallas Mavericks in their last game after a wild buzzer from Max Strus, they are clearly better than the Cleveland Cavaliers right now and in the future.
The Cavs are currently 43-25 on the year, but they’re getting hit at the worst possible time. Right now, Dean Wade, Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, and Evan Mobley are all dealing with injuries, and without Strus, Mobley, and Mitchell, the Mavs are better than Cleveland.
With the absence of these players, they are not able to build the same type of continuity that the Mavs are currently building. Dallas is without Josh Green after he sprained his anklebut having Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving healthy is a big difference from last year.
Even if Mobley were healthy, the Mavs would match up well with them because their two bigs would be capable of playing big minutes. The Mavs wouldn’t be forced to play small ball against the Cavs and it would be a battle down low.
The Mavs won’t play the Cavs again, but if they did, the Mavs would fight better than the last time they played.
