Lately, the The Philadelphia 76ers The Blue Bombers have found themselves in the conversation for the Eastern Conference’s best player. Their star center, Joel Embiid, has regularly found himself in another conversation for the MVP award.
A few seasons ago, Embiid had the best season of his career and was voted the MVP of all time. He battled for the title with Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic. The race for the trophy was tight, but it was Jokic who ultimately won it.
The following year, the scenario was the same. Jokic and Embiid finished in the top two, and the Nuggets big man took home the trophy, repeating as the winner. He mounted a campaign for a third consecutive title the following season, but Embiid eventually found the advantage.
The 2023-24 NBA season has started off well for Embiid. For the fourth straight season, he was often considered a favorite to win the MVP award. Unfortunately, an injury derailed his progress. Knee surgery sidelined Embiid for more than half of the regular season. Meanwhile, Jokic remained in the spotlight, winning the award for the third time.
A panel of ESPN analysts predicted The MVP award in August puts Jokic among the best again. As for Embiid, he didn’t make the top 5.

Harden-Simmons blockbuster reclassified
When the Sixers made a blockbuster trade for James Harden a few years ago, the move was met with much praise. Getting a 10-time All-Star for a disgruntled three-time All-Star was seen as the perfect trade, given that the Sixers were putting a dynamic scoring guard on the court with Joel Embiid. In hindsight, one trade expert considers the move to have been nothing but a bust.
