NBA star Anthony Edwards amused fans after missing the announcement of a basketball game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
THE Minnesota Timberwolves The star, 22, had to come off the bench for an unusual reason during the team’s 119-114 home victory.
Just before the opening point of the NBA During the game, the television broadcast showed Edwards in the background, sitting near the scorers’ table.
The shooter was waiting to enter the game.
Minnesota, meanwhile, started Nickeil Alexander-Walker in place of Edwards.
The Timberwolves replaced Edwards in the game from the first whistle with 11:25 left in the first quarter.
He would finish with 13 points, six assists, four rebounds and a steal in 35 minutes of play in Minnesota’s win over Portland.
Edwards did not start a game for the first time since his rookie season in 2020.
After the match, Edwards told reporters that he had been distracted and “lost track of time” which caused him to miss the first tip.
Fans were in hysterics over the two-time NBA All-Star’s bizarre explanation that he wasn’t in the starting lineup.
One said: “This man is trolling.”
Another commented: “This is interesting.”
While a third wrote: “Anthony is having fun.”
Edwards’ late appearance came after he had to leave Friday’s game against the Kings of Sacramento at halftime to be with his girlfriend who gave birth to the couple’s child.
Monday’s victory returned the Timberwolves to first place in the Western Conference.
