NBA best bets for March 6, 2024
Magic @ Wizards
Magic -7.0(-110)
The Orlando Magic travel to Washington to face the Wizards in the fourth and final game of their seasonal series. The previous game ended in an eight-point victory for the Magic. With these two teams being division rivals, there is a lot of familiarity between the two teams. Both are on different timelines for their recent rebuilds.
The Magic currently sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are in the thick of the race for playoff position with five teams separated by 1.5 games.
They can’t afford to drop any games during the season, so expect them to be very motivated for this game. The Magic are in their second consecutive evening.
Magic has Markelle Fultz, Jonathan IsaacAnd Gary Harris like doubts for this game. The wizards have Marvin Bagley III And Isaiah Livers listed as released.
The Magic will be confident heading into this tie with their four-game winning streak. The Wizards have struggled for victory all year, coming into this game on a 15-game losing streak (!).
The Magic have won all three games these teams have played so far this season. They covered two of those three games.
The Magic have covered the spread in six of their last eight games, winning seven straight. On the road, they have covered the spread in eight of their last 11 games.
The Wizards have been horrible all year at home. It’s been more than two months since they won a home match (!). They have only covered the spread in four of their last 14 home games. Of the four games covered, these games all had double-digit margins (ten points or more).
So why are we backing the Magic to cover the spread on this bet despite fatigue concerns? The Wizards have a leaky defense. Over the last five games, they are seventh in defensive rating (120.5). The Magic over this period of matches are second in the NBA in terms of defensive rating (98.4). Even more interesting, the Wizards have given up the most points to their opponents at home (127) and in the league overall (124.7). Over the last 3 games, that number has risen to 133.7. Bank on the Magic to cover the spread on the road.
Riders @ Falcons
Over 214.5 (-110)
The Cleveland Cavaliers travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks at State Farm Arena. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams, with the Cavaliers dominating the series 3-0. The Cavaliers won the last meeting in Atlanta by 21 points.
Both teams come into this matchup winning three of their last five games. The Hawks have scored at least 109 points in 11 straight home games despite Trae Young absence during their last two.
They have also given up points freely at home all year. Their opponents average 123.7 at State Farm Arena. On the other hand, the Cavaliers have been excellent offensively on the road all year. With the exception of one game, they have scored at least 108 points in road games in a streak dating back to 2023.
Both teams rank middle of the pack over the last 5 games in terms of offensive rating.
Trae Young and the Hawks Onyeka Okongwu to stay outside. For the Cavs, Evan Mobley And Max Strus will be reevaluated and will be game decisions. Donovan Mitchell is listed as released.
In this NBA bet, we back the over because it is a very low number to cover given the abundance of shooters on both teams.
Mowers @ Rockets
Mowers -6.5 (-110)
Los Angeles travels to Houston to face the Rockets in Game 2 of the season series. The previous game ended in a six-point victory for the Clippers at the Crypto.com Arena.
This game would feel like a different season when these two teams meet tonight. At that time, the Rockets were coming into this game on a six-game winning streak. The Clippers were still finding their rhythm after the Harden trade, ending a six-game losing streak with the win.
The Clippers currently occupy fourth place in the Western Conference standings. They are three games away from first place in the standings. They will strive to finish the season with as high a ranking as possible.
The Clippers lost their last game against the Bucks on the road. The Rockets beat their bitter rivals, the San Antonio Spurs, at home. The Rockets are playing their second straight night, even though both games are at home.
Tari Reason And Steven Adams are listed as out for this game. The Clippers have Russell Westbrook listed as released.
The Rockets have been solid at home all year. In the last 13 games, they have won eight, covering nine games. The Clippers have won 12 of their last 17 road games.
It’s a bit of a risky bet but you have to count on the most talented team to win a game where negative regression is expected for the Rockets.
Thunder @ Trailblazers
Thunder -13.5 (-110)
The Oklahoma City Thunder travel to Portland to take on the Trailblazers at the Moda Center. This will be the final meeting of the season between the two teams, with the Thunder winning the series 3-0 so far. The Thunder won the most recent meeting in Oklahoma by just 2 points, failing to cover the gap. In other meetings, the Thunder won by an average margin of 52.5 points (!)
The Trailblazers have struggled for wins all year, but recently picked up two on the road. Both were against the undermanned Grizzlies. They remained winless in February. The Blazers have lost every home game since February 1. They haven’t covered the spread in that span (seven games).
Thunder have won seven of their last 12 games in a row, covering the spread in those seven games.
The Thunder only have Jaylin Williams listed as released. For the Blazers, up to eight players are affected by injuries. Deandre Ayton And Jerami Scholarship will be reevaluated and will be game decisions.
In this NBA bet, we back the best Thunder team to beat their division rivals. I don’t see the Trailblazers scoring 110 points with that many potential absences.
These are my best NBA bets for March 6. Let’s repeat some recent success.
Good luck with your bets.
