The Heat successfully moved Kyle Lowry’s expiring contract to Terry Rozier in January. The trade reduced Miami’s payroll in the short term, with Rozier’s average annual salary of $22.2 million being cheaper than Lowry’s contract. However, Rozier is under contract through 2026, which will add to the Heat’s payroll for the next two seasons.
For a Heat team that needed more production at point guard, trading for Rozier made a lot of sense. He’s a guy who has a history of admiration for the Heat organization and his selfless personality fits into the culture quite well. Miami has a guy who can handle the ball and create plays for himself and others. Rozier is averaging 14.8 points, 5.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 0.8 steals on 40.7% shooting as a member of the Heat.
His stats were down compared to his days in Charlotte, but as the games went by, Rozier looked more comfortable.
