What there is to know
The Thunder will play the full four quarters on Sunday, but things are expected to be over well before that. They will play at home against the Memphis Grizzlies at 7 p.m. ET at the Paycom Center. The Thunder will look to maintain their eight-game home winning streak.
Even though the Thunder haven’t done well against the Heat recently (they were 2-8 in their previous ten meetings), they didn’t let the past get in their way on Friday. Oklahoma City won against the Heat by a score of 107-100. The victory came thanks to a strong push at the 6:58 mark of the second quarter, as the Thunder faced a 47-33 deficit.
It was another big night for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 37 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies’ game on Friday was tied 46-46 at halftime, but unfortunately for them, it didn’t stay that way. They fell 99-92 to Atlanta. The loss hurt even more as the Grizzlies led 34-20 with 10:09 left in the second.
Oklahoma City has been on a roll lately: They’ve won nine of their last 11 games, which has been a nice improvement to their 44-19 record this season. As for Memphis, they’ve been on a rocky road recently after losing six of their last eight games, which took a major dent in their 22-42 record this season.
This competition is shaping up to be a blast: the Thunder have had no problem running up the score this season, averaging 120.8 points per game (they are ranked third overall). It’s a different story for the Grizzlies, as they’ve only averaged 106 points per game. The only thing standing between the Thunder and another offensive beatdown is the Grizzlies. Will they be able to contain them?
Everything went the Thunder’s way against the Grizzlies in their previous matchup in December 2023 as the Thunder escaped with a 116-97 victory. Do the Thunder have another win up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn things around? We’ll have the answer soon enough.
