A rival of Portland Trail Blazers The league is demanding payment, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.
The NBA announced that Rudy Gobert has been fined $100,000 for his actions and comments toward officials during and after Friday’s loss to Cleveland.
Gobert made shocking remarks about public officials after the Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday.
“Mistakes happen. Referees also make mistakes. Sometimes I think it’s more than just mistakes. And I’m going to leave it at that,” Gobert said after Friday’s loss.
“I think everyone in this league knows that. And I think it needs to improve. I’m going to bite the bullet again. I will once again be the bad guy who tells what I think is the truth. And I hope the league will probably fine me, and again, I’ll take the fine, but I think it hurts our game. I know the betting and everything else is getting bigger and bigger , but that shouldn’t be the case. And I give all my respect to the other team, to Cleveland. They also played a hell of a game. But let the players decide the game.”
Players are not typically fined $100,000 for comments made to officials, but given the severity of Gobert’s comments, the severity of the fine increases.
