Ben DuBose, editor-in-chief of The Rockets Wire, joins Next Up to recap the Houston Rockets’ victory over the Sacramento Kings 112-104 on Sunday at Golden 1 Center. The victory marks a third straight road victory for the Rockets, who travel to San Antonio to face the Spurs on Tuesday.

In the final minutes of the Kings games, Alperen Şengün challenged King center Domantas Sabonis in a transition play that resulted in an awkward fall for Şengün who was taken to the locker room in a wheelchair. Şengün will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of his injuries.

Even though Şengün’s offensive production will be missed in the starting rotation, the biggest question DuBose wants answered is “can he be cleared by midseason?” DuBose is also counting on Jalen Green and Cam Whitmore to step in in Şengün’s absence. “It’s more about how they fill that role of scoring and playing.”

The Rockets currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference and are four games out of last place in the Play-In tournament. With just one month remaining in the regular season, many are not optimistic about the Rockets making the playoffs. “They’re not going to give up ’cause'[Ime] Udoka wants these guys to come out and take on the challenge. » Although qualifying for the playoffs seems like a difficult feat, DuBose says the Rockets played “with a vengeance” after the All-Star break. This offseason, I feel pretty good about what they’ve done.
