Halftime Rewind
Looking for a third straight victory, the Pacers headed into halftime Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse leading the Chicago Bulls, 62-58.
The Pacers won the first board and Andrew Nembhard immediately attacked the rim, scoring the game’s first points just seven seconds into Wednesday’s game. The Bulls, however, outscored Indiana 11-2 over the next four minutes and held their lead for the rest of the first quarter.
Tyrese Haliburton had five points and three assists in the first period and Jalen Smith had a productive first stint off the bench with seven points on 3-of-4 shooting. But on the other side, third-year guard Ayo Dosunmu had scored nine points and six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan added seven as Chicago led 30-28 early in the second quarter.
The Blue & Gold took the lead early in the next game thanks to a 15-1 run. Rookie forward Jarace Walker played a key role down the stretch, scoring seven points.
The Pacers pushed the lead to as many as 11 points, but the Bulls closed the half with a 9-2 run – capped by Alex Caruso’s 3-pointer just before the buzzer – to make it a game to four points at the break.
Myles Turner led Indiana with 10 points and four rebounds in the first half. Haliburton added nine points, three rebounds and six assists, while Pascal Siakam had nine points, seven rebounds and two assists.
DeRozan led all scorers with 19 points at halftime, going 7 of 10 from the field and 5 of 5 from the free throw line while also collecting four rebounds and three assists. Dosunmu added 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
