CHICAGO (CBS) — The Chicago Bulls hosted a girls hoops event at Belmont Cragin Friday night.
Championship era Bulls player Randy Brown joined the coaches for running drills with the girls, who then competed in a four-on-four tournament in the event at The Center of Miracles5454 W. Diversey Ave.
Brown said it was a special opportunity to cheer on the girls on the field.
“For so many years, men have dominated sports, so it’s refreshing to see young women wanting to go out and compete and have fun,” Brown said. “And what other way to get support from the Chicago Bulls?”
“I like coming to events like this to meet new people, but also to learn how to improve myself,” said Doxalis, an attendee.
The Bulls said the event is just one way to help increase girls’ participation in sports.
The clinic’s host, The Miracle Center, is an organization founded and run by women on the Northwest Side.
