What there is to know
The Heat and Cavaliers have been tied 5-5 since December 2021, but not for long. The Miami Heat will play at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET at the Kaseya Center. Both teams suffered a loss in their last match, so they will have a lot of motivation to win the “W”.
The experts predicted a close game on Friday and a Heat victory, but they were wrong. Their bruising 111-88 loss to New Orleans could scar them for a while. The game was close 46-42 at the break, but unfortunately for the Heat, it certainly didn’t stay that way.
Meanwhile, defenses reigned supreme when the Cavaliers and Timberwolves played Friday, rewarding bettors who took the risk on the season-low 206 points. Cleveland lost 104-91 to the Timberwolves. The Cavaliers have now received an “L” in consecutive games.
Miami dropped its record to 38-32 with the loss, which was its third straight at home. These losses could be attributed to the team’s lackluster offensive performance during this span, as they averaged just 94.7 points per game. As for Cleveland, they have struggled recently as they have lost three of their last four matchups, which has significantly dented their 43-27 record this season.
In this competition, the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: the Heat haven’t given up the ball easily this season, averaging just 11.8 turnovers per game. However, it’s not like the Cavaliers struggled in that department as they averaged just 12.6 turnovers per game. Given these competing forces, it will be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
The Heat prevailed in a close game against the Cavaliers in their previous game on Wednesday, outscoring 107-104. Will the Heat repeat their success, or will the Cavaliers have a better game plan this time around? We’ll know soon enough.
