The Golden State Warriors lost another winnable game on Sunday night, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 114-110. Star point guard Steph Curry was a +6 in his minutes, but only played 29 minutes and 50 seconds, which Steve Kerr described as the team’s goal of keeping him around 30 minutes.

When asked after the game if he could play more minutes than Sunday, Curry said., “The situation will define itself quite clearly – it’s in real time. Every game counts. We’re getting closer to the other end of the rankings… No one will be waving the white flag. If that means playing more minutes, I’ll be willing to do that.”

As Curry noted, the Warriors continue to lose their grip on the 10th seed, as the Houston Rockets have closed the gap to just one game. What was at one point billed as a late-season attempt to move up the rankings has now turned into an attempt to hold on to the 10th seed, which is already a less than ideal scenario for Golden State.

With such inconsistent production outside of Curry, the Warriors may need to reevaluate how they choose to distribute his minutes for the remainder of the season. The margin for error is now slimmer than ever for the Warriors.
