The Golden State Warriors take on the Miami Heat on Tuesday night and make a big change to their starting lineup. Klay Thompson has mostly been coming off the bench for several weeks now, but Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is reinstating him into the starting lineup for this game against Miami. Thompson has been productive recently, scoring at least 16 points in five straight games, but his efficiency has been up and down.
Rookie guard Brandon Podziemski has been in Steve Kerr’s starting lineup for the past five games, but has struggled a bit recently. Although Podziemski isn’t there to score, his production has dropped to the point where Kerr feels it’s best to put Thompson back in the starting lineup for this game against Miami.
The Warriors are currently only a half-game ahead of the 11th-seeded Houston Rockets and are in serious danger of dropping out of the play-in tournament altogether. This would be a disastrous result for Golden State, and while this season has already been a major disappointment, missing the play-in tournament altogether would be the worst-case scenario. Trying to avoid that at all costs, Coach Kerr makes a big roster move Tuesday night in hopes of getting something going with his group.
