There was whispers that Bruce Brown Brown was going to emerge as an offseason trade target for contenders ahead of the NBA draft and free agency. However, it didn’t quite pan out the way many thought it would. While Brown is still going to be considered a natural trade target by the NBA trade deadline, he’ll still be considered one of the top free agents heading into next summer. Even if he is traded, it would be surprising if he signed a contract extension with a team before he gets to test the market next summer.
While Brown hasn’t found a role that fits him since leaving the Denver Nuggets last season to go from the Indiana Pacers to the Toronto Raptors, there’s hope that he’s still considered one of the league’s best supporting players. And if he continues to prove that this season, there’s no doubt that he’ll be in line for another big free-agent deal.
For now, it will be imperative for Brown to find the right role. It could well help him land his next contract.
