Damian Lillard knows he and the Milwaukee Bucks didn’t live up to expectations last season. But Lillard said there were reasons for that and he wasn’t breaking down physically.

“I’m not a player that falls apart,” Lillard said. “I live a healthy, healthy lifestyle, so I can do it. I can do the same thing I did two or three years ago. I can do it now.”

In addition to dealing with several injuries, Lillard has had to deal with many challenges off the court, which has contributed to his reduced effectiveness.

“There’s been a lot of changes, a lot of stress, you know?” the veteran fullback said. “I think now I have a chance to get myself back in order and start moving forward into next season.”

Lillard also said he’s OK with the focus being on the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks this season.

“The fact that we’re here and we’re under the radar is perfect because they’re not going to think anything of us and then they’re going to say… You’ve got to face the truth, eventually. That’s how it usually goes,” Lillard said.
