Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards is coming off a breakout season, leading his team to a third-place finish in a tough Western Conference, which culminated in an appearance in the Western Conference Finals, and he just won the first gold medal of his career at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Although Edwards did not reach the top of the NBAHe did it on the international stage alongside some of the best players in the world. The U.S. team was loaded with talent from top to bottom. The two sat down with the old NBA Player Jalen Rose, and Edwards admitted he felt “bad” about eliminating his favorite player from the playoffs.

“I felt a little bad, just because he’s my favorite player of all time. I didn’t want to send him home like that.”

Edwards’ Timberwolves, the third seed in the West last season, faced Durant’s sixth-seeded Suns in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, and it wasn’t a close contest. Minnesota won each game by an average of 15 points. The closest game came in Game 4, with Minnesota leading by six points.

Edwards led his team and the series in scoring, averaging 31.0 points per game, 6.3 assists, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals, while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from three-point range. The 23-year-old was brilliant for his team and led the Wolves to their first Western Conference Finals appearance since 2004.

Durant certainly did his part in the series, even if it didn’t result in a single win. He averaged 26.8 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.8 steals, while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range.

Edwards outplayed Durant in the series, but with a new season upon us, Edwards will look to show that he has arrived and is here to stay, while Durant will show that he is still among the best players in the league.
