On Thursday, the NBA unveiled its schedule for the 2024-25 regular season.
The release of the schedule came with a number of intrigues for teams around the league, including NBA Cup plans, holiday schedules and NBA openers officially announced.
For the Houston Rockets, however, the schedule has brought plenty of surprises.
Not only Ime Udoka and company have the most consecutive games of any NBA team this year, but the Rockets are only scheduled to play on major television networks three times this upcoming season.
The only teams with fewer games scheduled on ESPN, ABC or TNT are the Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards.
Houston’s first game on a major network will be Thursday, Jan. 16, when the Rockets travel to Sacramento for a 9 p.m. showdown with the Kings that will air on TNT. After the Kings added DeMar DeRozan In addition to a team that was already strong in the offseason, their matchup against the Rockets should feature two high-powered attacks.
Next, Houston will travel to Memphis on Thursday, Jan. 30 for a 6:30 p.m. game against the Grizzlies that will also air on TNT. Yes Morant Set to return this season after missing nearly all of Memphis’ 2023-24 campaign, the Grizzlies should also be a formidable opponent.
Finally, the Rockets will host the San Antonio Spurs at the Toyota Center on Wednesday, February 26 for an 8:30 p.m. game that will be broadcast on ESPN. Victor Wembanyama continuous rise to prominence, any confrontation between Alpen Sengun and the French phenomenon is a must-see on television.
In addition to Houston’s three nationally televised games that will air on major networks, the Rockets have eight games that will air on NBA TV, which is also a national network.
