THE Sacramento Kings The Kings have undoubtedly made strides this offseason, most notably with the acquisition of six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan. While the Kings suffered some losses to bring in DeRozan, bolstering one of the league’s most talented offenses with one of the most prolific wings the game has ever seen is an elite move.
With the 2024-25 NBA schedule released, many fans have been talking about the Kings’ possibilities this season. They’ve certainly stepped up in terms of talent from last season, but how far will that take them?
Andy Bailey Bleacher Report predicted each team’s record for next season, giving the Kings a disappointing 44-38.
After 16 years without a playoff spot, the Kings won 48 games and secured third place in the Western Conference for the 2022-23 season. Then, Sacramento followed up with 46 wins and found itself out of the playoff picture again.

Another two-win drop would certainly be considered a disappointing year, especially since a 44-win season likely won’t earn a playoff spot in the ultra-competitive West.
Bailey notes that Sacramento’s talent is there between De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray, Malik Monk and DeMar DeRozan, but in a tough Western Conference, they could still see a decline next season.
During their 46-win 2023-24 season, the Kings lost plenty of inexcusable games, and adding a veteran star like DeRozan should certainly reduce those losses to some extent.
The trio of DeRozan, Fox and Sabonis will certainly pose problems for opposing defenses, but the defensive versatility of Keon Ellis and Keegan Murray will be the deciding factor for Sacramento.
The Kings have put together a team designed to win 50 games, but time will tell how far they will go.
