Adam Silver’s ‘Forced’ Victor Wembanyama Agenda is What America Wants Despite Spurs’ Struggles, Claims Media Veteran

The schedule for the 2024-25 season has been released and the stage is set for the much-anticipated basketball games. However, before the games begin, a major debate is brewing around Victor Wembanyama. “If you look at teams that have 20-plus nationally televised games, the Spurs are the team that they really forced early in the season. This team may not have been great early in the season, but they’ve got Victor Wembanyama, who could be better, even better in a second year and should be much better in a second year, and they’ve added veterans to support the team, where hopefully it’s not going to be an elimination,” O’Connor said.

Furthermore, O’Connor confidently stated that Spurs would improve, given the rapid development at Wemby in recent months. “They should be better this year. They should be competitive night in and night out.”

Does America want to see Victor Wembanyama?

An NBA game is only televised nationally if it has the potential to draw a large number of viewers to their television screens. If the Spurs have more than 20 games televised nationally despite their poor run of recent seasons, it is clear that Wemby has had a lasting impact.

“I think the NBA made the right bet with them,” O’Connor spoke about the decision to give Spurs more than 20 televised games. “People want to see it. You shouldn’t need a league pass to see Wemby, Vernon added that Wemby had found a place in the hearts of Americans.

Additionally, Spurs fans could see an entirely different team with the addition of a point guard, Chris Paul.
