It seems that the old Utah Jazz Omer Yurtseven Rescue Center has found a new home. According to Eurohoops.netYurtseven has been offered a contract with Panathinaikos of the Greek Basketball Euroleague for the upcoming season.
Yurtseven only spent one year in Salt Lake City after signing a two-year deal in the 2023 offseason. Utah decided to part ways and released Yurtseven, with the second season not guaranteed.
Recently, it has been reported that Yurtseven tried for the The New York Knicksbut it was decided not to sign the backup center. There have been no further reports that Yurtseven is close to finding a spot in the NBA.
After going undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft, Yurtseven signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Oklahoma Thunder of the city. His first NBA playing experience was with the Miami HeatYurtseven played sparingly with the Heat, but he averaged a career-high 5.3 points during the 2021-22 season.
Yurtseven didn’t get much play in Utah, but he played well when called upon. He averaged 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 48 games. His best game as a Jazzman came against the Denver Nuggetswhere he scored 20 points on 9 of 14 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Drew Eubanks will replace Yurtseven, who signed a two-year, $10 million deal, with a second season also not guaranteed. Heading into the 2024-25 season, the number of minutes at center remains undetermined. Eubanks, Walker Kessler and John Collins will battle for playing time, while Taylor Hendricks could be slotted in if Utah decides to play small.
