The NBA recently revealed each team’s schedules, including the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 2024-25 season. The Timberwolves come off 4-1 Western Conference Finals win loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Despite that heartbreaking loss, it’s safe to say that the Wolves had a successful season last season. They managed to reach the conference finals for the first time since 2004. That said, the fact that they were able to get this far last season is a sign of how far the team has come since rebuilding.
With all that in mind, here are our predictions for how the Timberwolves will perform in the 2024-25 season.
Timberwolves vs. Mavericks, Part 2

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks faced off in the 2024 Western Conference Finals, with the Mavs coming away with the victory. There’s no denying the power of the Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving duo, hence their victory. However, that doesn’t mean the Wolves didn’t have what it took to beat Dallas.
Anthony Edwards is at the top of his game right now. He finished the 2023-24 season as an All-Star and got a taste of elite playoff competition in his fourth season. He’s also now an Olympic gold medalist, adding experience to his resume. With that in mind, it’s safe to assume that Edwards could enter the 2024-25 season more dangerous than ever. If that’s the case, fans can expect another trip to the Western Conference Finals. That’s assuming Edwards remains consistently explosive and his teammates provide effective support.
If the Timberwolves and Mavericks do end up meeting again in the NBA playoffs, the game could swing either way. While Edwards’ rapid growth could impact Minnesota, Klay Thompson’s arrival in Dallas could be the key to the Mavs’ success. With all the momentum both teams have, they could inevitably meet again in the conference finals or as early as the second round.
Anthony Edwards: An MVP-caliber season

Anthony Edwards is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in the NBA today. Edwards’ greatness begins to show given the speed of his growth on the court. Although he has received support from his teammates, there is no denying that his presence on the team is the reason for the Wolves’ resurgence in the league.
Look his numbers last seasonHe averaged a career-high 25.9 points and 5.1 assists per game. Edwards was also consistent on defense and provided the rebounds for his team with 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Given that his scoring and other stats have been steadily increasing since his rookie year, it wouldn’t be surprising if he puts up some monstrous numbers.
If Edwards can improve his points-per-game numbers to near 30 and his efforts help the Timberwolves secure first or second place in the Western Conference, there’s no denying he’ll be in the MVP conversation.

Throughout the 2023-24 season, the Minnesota Timberwolves proved to be worthy title contenders. The team consistently remained at the top of the conference, going back and forth with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the top spot. Ultimately, the Wolves secured third place, but that doesn’t mean they fell. They were just one win behind the Thunder and the Denver Nuggets, who had the same 57-25 record.
In a sense, the Timberwolves were tied with the Thunder and Nuggets as the best team in the conference during the regular season. Ultimately, of the top three teams, it was Minnesota that made the Western Conference Finals. They even beat the defending champion Nuggets to get there, proving that they have what it takes to win a title in the near future.
That near future could come as early as the 2024-25 season. As mentioned earlier, Anthony Edwards is coming off the best season of his career and winning an Olympic gold medal. Rudy Gobert remains the league’s top defensive player after winning his fourth Defensive Player of the Year award last season. Although his numbers have declined slightly, Karl-Anthony Towns remains an NBA All-Star.
Considering these factors, Minnesota is still in good hands as long as its top three players remain consistent. The deciding factors here would be if Gobert maintains his defensive dominance, if Towns maintains an All-Star caliber season, and if Edwards continues to elevate his game. If all of these things happen in the upcoming season, we predict the Timberwolves will reign supreme in the West.
