Rachid Wallace used to attract attention with his on-court manners during his NBA heyday. These days, he can still turn headsalbeit in a very different way. A few weeks ago, Wallace pupil a savage Michael Jordan take during an episode of The Sheed and Tyler show.
Although Michael Jordan almost always gets the buzz, Wallace’s statement about Its lightness seemed to stand out from the rest simply because he unabashedly went against the conventional wisdom about MJ. According to Wallace, the Washington Wizards Jordan’s version was “more dangerous” than the Bulls MJ. Wow.
“He was a phenomenal player back then, but I think he was a little more dangerous when he was with the Wizards,” Wallace said.
The four-time NBA All-Star, who like Jordan played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels, acknowledged that Mike’s explosiveness had greatly diminished in Washington. However, Sheed suggested that Jordan’s physical strength outweighed his opponents and that MJ’s perimeter game was more lethal in Washington.
“He didn’t have the athleticism that we were used to seeing from MJ… His angles were a little sharper, he didn’t move but he was a solid right guard, he didn’t just move around a little bit. His shot became more dangerous. He became more solid as a veteran player over his years in Washington.”
It should be noted that Wallace had experience play against Michael Jordan. When Wallace arrived in the NBA in 1995 with the Washington Bullets. Jordan and the The Chicago Bulls The Wizards were busy putting together a championship season that marked the franchise’s second three-peat. Jordan retired at the end of the 1997-98 season, but retired a second time to play two more seasons in the NBA with the Wizards.
When Jordan returned to the league in 2001, Wallace had already become one of the NBA’s best big men, with two All-Stars to his name during that time.
Given that Wallace was active in the NBA during parts of Jordan’s time with the Bulls and throughout MJ’s time with the Wizards, he must have developed his own unique perception of the six-time NBA champion.
For the record, Jordan shot just 43.1 percent from the field with the Wizards. Over his last three seasons with Chicago, Jordan shot 48.2 percent from the field. Additionally, Jordan posted a 50.5 percent field goal percentage throughout his entire tenure with Chicago.
