Going out one of their best seasons In franchise history, the Minnesota Timberwolves will have a tough task ahead of them as they try to top an incredible 2023-24. They still have all the winning pieces in place, but the challenge now comes with a target on their backs.

At the start of last season, the Timberwolves were just one of the most talented teams in the Western Conference in the playoffs. At least that’s what the national media and fans of other teams thought. In the Minnesota locker room, there was already a belief that they could accomplish whatever they ended up doing.

It probably goes without saying, but Karl-Anthony Towns dispelled all doubts when he recently appeared on Podcast P with Paul GeorgeKAT gave his own take on last season and revealed the exact moment he knew how special they could be. According to the talented big man, it was when they played their first pre-season games abroad in Abu Dhabi.

“I knew we were special when we went to Abu Dhabi and the way we played so early in the season,” Towns said. “We looked focused, we looked motivated. Everybody had their own reason to be so motivated, and I think that’s what made us so special last year.

“Everybody was fighting for something, whether it was money, whether it was respect, whether it was a spot in the league. I think everybody did exactly what they wanted to do and accomplish this year. I know we fell short as a team and we all suffered from it… but to know that we feel like this could be our home court, I think that’s something special.”

KAT goes on to say that the start of last season represented a shift in how Minnesota went from believing they could be a title contender to actually making that dream come true. It was as if Towns took the thoughts of every Timberwolves fan and put them all on the mic during that podcast.

This franchise has been through many tough times throughout its history, and now the Minnesota faithful are seeing all their loyalty rewarded in a bright new era.
