If they go for an international prospect, the Sixers will be the team that brings Guerschon Yabusele back to the NBA for a second stint.

On Sunday, the 76ers reportedly had their eye on Yabusele after his impressive run at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Shortly after it was revealed that Yabusele was on their radar, ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski reported The veteran forward has agreed to a deal with the team.

As Yabusele continued his Olympic journey, he was under contract with Real Madrid. In order to return to the NBA, he had to reach a buyout agreement with his team.

According to The AthleticYabusele’s buyout cost $2.5 million. NBA rules would only allow the Sixers to pay $850,000. The rest of the amount would have to be settled between Yabusele and Real Madrid.

The deal isn’t official yet, but it appears Yabusele is headed for a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Sixers. He would get the veteran’s minimum.

The 2024–25 NBA season marks Yabusele’s second season in the league. In 2016, he was selected by the Boston Celtics in the first round. As the 16th overall pick, Yabusele was given a four-year rookie-scale contract. He was set to earn over $12 million, according to Spotrac.

Yabusele made his debut with the Celtics in 2017. During his rookie career, he split time between the Celtics and the G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. In Boston, Yabusele’s rookie career saw him see the court in 33 games. Averaging seven minutes on the court, Yabusele produced two points and two rebounds per game.

In his sophomore year, Yabusele played in 41 games. He continued to post similar stats with 46% shooting and 32% from three-point range. After 74 games in Boston, Yabusele was released by the Celtics.
