The news prompted Warriors coach Steve Kerr Kerr responded in a video, calling Attles’ passing “sad news.” Kerr called Attles “Mr. Warrior” and a “figurehead of the organization” for many years, noting his “unprecedented” six decades as a Warriors official and friend.

Al Attles’ Legendary Career with the Warriors

Attles was a 6-foot-1, 175-pound point guard nicknamed “Destroyer” and “The Jersey Jet.” A native of Newark, New Jersey, he played his first two seasons in Philadelphia with the Philadelphia Warriors before finishing the 2010–11 season. the last nine seasons of his career with the San Francisco Warriors, who later became the Golden State Warriors.
Attles recorded career-highs of 11.2 and 11.3 points in two separate seasons and scored at least ten points in four NBA seasons. He had a career-high six assists per game in 1968–69 with San Francisco and later served as the team’s coach.
