This week, several former members of the The Philadelphia 76ers linked to one of the new team members in Hong Kong.

For a charity event hosted by the legendary Yao Ming Center, Paul George reunites with former teammateJames Harden. Even Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler was in on the act too.

While George recently competed in a Pro-AM out West, he’s been enjoying himself out of the country as he enjoys the final weeks of summer before heading to his first training camp with the 76ers.

Earlier this week, the Sixers announced they will begin training camp on October 1. For the third consecutive season, the team will hit the road with plans to prepare for the 2024-25 NBA season in the Bahamas.

For George, he will have a few days to train with his new teammates before embarking on a new journey.

Following the 2024 NBA playoffs, George wrapped up his fifth season with the Los Angeles Clippers. Last year, George had the opportunity to share the court with James Harden after the Sixers traded the 10-time All-Star for several late-career veterans.

The Clippers hoped to keep the trio of George, Harden and Kawhi Leonard intact beyond last season. The plan to keep Harden in free agency worked. As for George, he sought a fresh start.

George hopes to become a new co-star for 76ers center Joel Embiid next season and beyond. Before Harden’s move, the Sixers had Jimmy Butler next to the 7-foot-4 center for one season. Butler and Embiid grew closer, but the veteran forward didn’t feel comfortable long-term with the Sixers.

During the 2019 offseason, Butler signed a contract to join the Heat. A few seasons later, the Sixers signed Harden in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets. After spending a season and a half with the 76ers, Harden wanted a fresh start, and he got it after just a few games of the 2024-25 season.

Two of the most notable players at Yao Ming’s charity event couldn’t help the Sixers return to the NBA Finals stage. Philly is hoping the George era will shake things up.
