THE The Philadelphia 76ers The Sixers have added more stars this summer. Last summer, the Sixers were able to make a splash, but they appear to be in a better position this time around after losing their third star James Harden to a trade request last offseason.
After navigating the 2023-24 season with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey as the headline duo, the Sixers added Paul George to the equation. Suddenly, the Sixers can count on Maxey to continue filling the scoring and playmaking void left by Harden while letting George serve as a complementary star piece.
Meanwhile, Joel Embiid will continue to be at the top of the pecking order, as the star big man has established himself as one of the game’s best scorers over the past few seasons.
With Embiid’s steady improvement in the scoring department, he’s been the obvious choice for the Sixers to lead their offense at any point in a game. With another All-Star on board, the Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren asked Paul George a pertinent question:Who will take the final shot for the Sixers if they need a game-winning basket?
George naturally deflected the question.
“It’s a Nick Nurse question,” the nine-time All-Star said on ‘Podcast P“I’m going to throw the ball back to Nick Nurse. Whoever Nick Nurse throws it for, we’re going to have the best chance.”

Some teams have no choice but to go with a star to get the ball in crucial moments. For the Sixers, they have at least three options. While Embiid and George have the most experience in this situation, Maxey has also earned his stripes, giving the Sixers another number to call if needed.
While George would accept being the player who puts the fate of a game in his hands, he explained that he has been around long enough to understand that the head coach may have different preferences in different situations.
