Will the Mavericks re-sign Markieff Morris?
It was reported a few months ago that Morris was re-signing with the Mavs. was a guaranteebut that has not happened yet. Morris has made it known that he wants to return to Dallas for some time now, and he shared his thoughts once again on Thursday morning.

Morris responded to a tweet announcing his re-signing with the Mavs with the caption, “One of these days,” and he continued to make it known that he would like to be with the Mavs for the 2024-25 season.
Last season in Dallas, Morris averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game while shooting 35.7 percent from three-point range, but his main value came off the bench. Morris has become one of Dallas’ best players. the greatest leaders of the teamand he was always there to give pre- and post-match speeches and give advice to the young players when needed.
Everyone on the Mavs roster admired Morris, even Jason Kidd. named him MVP team last season for everything he did for the team. Morris is one of the best locker room players in the league, and every team needs someone like Morris in the locker room.
Morris has played 13 seasons in the NBA and has been in virtually every situation. He also won an NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, and he brings his championship pedigree to the Mavs on a daily basis.
While Morris and the Mavs both seem interested in a reunion next season, Dallas doesn’t have an open roster spot. They’d have to cut someone to make room for Morris, and that player who could be cut has been Apparently it would be AJ Lawson.
Lawson is a 24-year-old guard who plays in Dallas. To keep Morris, the Mavs may have to cut him, as his contract is not fully guaranteed. Moving away from Lawson to make room for Morris may seem risky given Lawson’s potential, but Morris’s value on the court is much greater than most people realize.
