THE Phoenix SunsDevin Booker is often compared to many of the NBA’s top shooters and scorers, but never quite like what happened this Friday when Gilbert Arenas shared his thoughts on the former Kentucky Wildcats star.

The former Washington Wizards star shared a surprising opinion when talking about Booker, Trae Young and Stephen Curry“Devin Booker will be viewed as a better scorer than Steph,” Arenas said in a conversation with former teammate Brandon Jennings. “But Steph’s game is about scoring,” Jennings added, to which Arenas responded, “Trae Young is viewed as a better natural scorer than Curry.”

The take came amid teasing of a new Devin Booker’s Olympic-Themed Sneakers fall. Meanwhile, the Suns gave up on a talented striker to make way for a vacant position.

Arenas’ rendition is certainly turning heads, as it seems to compare details of two players’ games in a way that many fans haven’t thought of.

Arenas’ voice seemed to trail off a bit when he said Booker was considered a better scorer than Stephen Curry, even after Curry’s monstrous performance late in the 2024 Summer Olympics gold medal game against France.

Arenas attempted to demonstrate that Booker has a more complete scoring package by starting by discussing the mid-range game, to which Jennings retorted that Curry “has all of that.”

He also added that Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young “is considered a better natural scorer” than Curry, a puzzling interpretation that had Jennings exclaiming “that’s crazy” while shaking his head.

The comparison sparked a heated debate as the two former NBA guards faced off on the show “Gil’s Arena.”

Perhaps it’s this distinction that explains Arenas’ comment about Booker as a scorer, while seeming to classify Curry as a pure shooter.

Suns fans know that Booker can score from anywhere on the court. Heading into a new season in Phoenix, Booker’s task will be to combine all of those elements and lead his Suns back to the NBA Finals by playing as smart and efficient as possible.
