THE Lakers owner has rekindled a contentious relationship that recently came to a hopeful end. We are talking about the The Los Angeles Clippers After the Clippers opened their new arena, the Intuit Dome, everyone expected the rivalry between the two Los Angeles teams to be over. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. In her last public interaction, Jeanie Buss took a dig at the Clippers team, as well as an indirect dig at Adam Silver. Notably, it’s nothing compared to the one she took at him a few years ago.

It all started when the Staples Center (Crypto.com arena) came into the scene in 1999. After that, the two teams who had separate arenas, agreed to share them. However, this was not a good idea as it created a famous rivalry, the battle of LA Finally, this adventure came to an end after 25 years with the launch of Intuit Dome. Or so we thought.

While speaking on the Petros & Money Summer radio show outside Vans headquarters, the hosts asked Buss how the Clippers left the arena. Unsurprisingly, the Lakers owner gave a trivial answer. She added: “We moved into this building first, then the Clippers moved in. And now they moved out… Nothing has really changed for us. I just didn’t realize How long does it take for the rest of the league to realize this? “We have more home games because we have been playing. We have not had to travel.”

We called his answer “unsurprisingly trivial” for a reason. Email exchanges between Jeanie Buss and Madison Square Garden (MSG) County Manager Irving Azoff published by the The New York Times, stand as evidence. In 2019, the The New York Times He released emails related to the lawsuit between MSG and Inglewood, California, over the construction of the Clippers’ new arena, and that’s where Buss allegedly took a dig at NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

Why is there so much going on around the Clippers’ new arena?

In 2017, when the Clippers initially proposed a plan to build their new arena, it put Irving Azoff in an alarming situation. MSG owned the Forum, which is about a mile and a half from the land the Clippers decided to build their new home on, hence the alarm. Notably, before the Staples Center, The Lakers played their home games at the Forum from 1967 to 1999. And they even won six championships in the arena.

Still, the Clippers’ offer left Irving Azoff with no other option but to lure Jeanie Buss’ Lakers to the Forum. Azoff wrote an email, writing: “We were caught off guard and not involved in the process… It’s a long road to get there, but we should talk about the impact this will have on the Lakers, the forum, etc.!” To which Jeanie Buss responded: They’re all crazy, it’s a joke. Why would Adam let this happen?

Additionally, Buss promised to address the issue and find an amicable solution. But nothing seems to have gone as planned. And most importantly, Steve Baller, the owner of the Clippers, had the last laugh. The former Microsoft CEO bought The Forum from MSG for $400 million in 2020, ending the controversy. On the other hand, the Lakers extended their lease with the Staples Center, which will run until 2041.

Even though the whole issue has been dusted off, Jeanie Buss still hasn’t moved on, as she lashed out at Adam Silver for not ‘realizing’ The Lakers equation in the Crypto.com arena.
