Rip City Remix sophomore forward Alex Reese, a 6-foot-9 big man from Alabama, will represent the NBA G League at the Fall Invitational, according to the official X account of the G League.

G League United, of which Reese is a member, will face Serbian club KK Mega Basket in two bouts on September 4 and 6. The action will begin at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz. Tickets are still available for purchasefor interested fans.

Reese went undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft after four seasons at Alabama. In 124 NCAA games (36 starts), he averaged 6.1 points on .387/.311/.719 shooting averages, 3.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists. He joined the Rip City Remix ahead of the 2023-24 season.

In 32 regular season games with the Remix (zero starts) in his first professional season, Reese averaged 13.2 points on .444/.417/.786 shooting averages, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 0.7 assists and 0.6 steals per game. In his 11 Showcase Cup games, Reese was less impressive, averaging 6.7 points on .443/.350/.600 shooting averages and 3.6 rebounds.

Reese played for Portland’s Summer League team in Las Vegas last July. He averaged 7.8 points on .324/.296/.857 shooting, 2.2 rebounds and 0.6 steals per game.

Last year, the Remix finished 18-16, making them the ninth seed in the Western Conference.

The biggest players to watch this season in Rip City will be Portland’s three two-way signings. So far, only two players have signed two-way contracts: second-year forward Justin Minaya and second-year guard Bryce McGowens. Two players, second-year forward Henri Drell and second-year guard Yongxi Cui, have reportedly signed Exhibit 10 training camp contracts (Drell’s deal is confirmed). That duo will theoretically battle for that third two-way contract.

Reese, 25, may have a hard time moving beyond a G League contract, but this Fall Invitational showcase event could serve as a unique opportunity for him to showcase his game to potential international employers within the KK Mega Basket. He may want to continue his career overseas, where contracts can be more lucrative than the G League’s strict salaries. Two-way contracts, however, are quite lucrative. This year’s standard two-way contract will pay players $578,577.
