As the best team in the NBA over the past decade, the Golden State Warriors have often been accustomed to being the bullies and consistently beating teams.
But since becoming a fairly average team over the past two seasons, the Warriors have developed their own scarecrow teams that they have struggled against of late.
Unfortunately for Golden State, their longest losing streaks have come against other Western Conference teams. This has undoubtedly played a role in their inability to make the playoffs in 2024 despite winning 46 games, and it’s something they’ll be looking to avoid next season. Let’s take a look at the Warriors’ four longest losing streaks against other teams, and when they can expect to break them in the coming year.
Denver Nuggets – 7 consecutive wins
After losing to the Warriors in the first round of the 2022 playoffs, it seems the Denver Nuggets have taken the matchups between the two to heart ever since. They’re on a seven-game winning streak over the last two seasons, including a game on Christmas Day last season and another where Golden State led by 18 points in the final period before a 25-4 run culminated in a ridiculous Nikola Jokic buzzer-beater.
The Warriors will have their first chance to end that streak in an NBA Cup game at Ball Arena on Dec. 3, while the two teams will meet at Chase Center later in the season on March 17 and April 4.
Minnesota Timberwolves – 4 consecutive wins
The Minnesota Timberwolves’ rise in the conference coincided with a 3-0 record against the Warriors, extending their streak to four after winning the last meeting between the two the previous season.
All four games were closely contested, with the Timberwolves winning each by between three and six points. Golden State will have four chances to end that streak next season, starting with a game at Chase Center on Dec. 6.
LA Clippers – 3 consecutive wins
After the Warriors won their first meeting against the LA Clippers last season on Nov. 30, their Pacific rival has won the last three games, which included a pair of games where Golden State led by double digits in the fourth quarter.
One of those included a three-pointer from Paul George, whose departure in free agency as a nine-time All-Star should improve the Warriors’ chances of ending that streak. They’ll have a chance to do so in the first of four games at Chase Center on Oct. 27.
Oklahoma City Thunder – 3 consecutive wins
The Oklahoma City Thunder got their revenge for Stephen Curry’s buzzer-beating layup early last season by winning three straight games, including two in overtime. The Warriors hope to get their revenge starting Nov. 10 at Paycom Center, before a pair of games at Chase Center on Nov. 27 and Jan. 29.
