PHOENIX – Phoenix Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein has cracked Athletics List of the 40 players under 40 in the NBA this offseason.

Bartelstein has been owner Mat Ishbia’s right-hand man since the initial transition nearly two years ago, and is on the fast track to establishing himself as a powerful name in NBA circles going forward.

“Bartelstein is the most significant hire Mat Ishbia has made since taking over the franchise in February. The son of power agent Mark Bartelstein, Josh has made a name for himself in the league. He’s already made an impact in Phoenix on the business side, helping the Suns become the first NBA team to move its local broadcast from a regional sports network to an over-the-air network,” wrote Mike Vorkunov.

“He quickly took up his duties after his arrival from the Detroit Pistons last spring, where he held a position that straddled the business and basketball aspects of the franchise.

Ishbia offered the following to Bartelstein after he was hired:

“Josh understands our culture and values and shares our strategic vision for the Suns and Mercury,” Ishbia said.

“His proven leadership abilities and extensive experience in both the business and basketball sides of an organization uniquely position him to transform teams into top basketball franchises on and off the court.”

The culture has undoubtedly changed from the previous ownership to what Ishbia has built now, and Bartelstein can take some of that credit for the work he has done and the path he will continue to blaze.
