There are about two months left until the 2024-25 NBA season begins. The year will be filled with plenty of exciting games and showdowns between the league’s best players, and the NBA Cup will bring even more intrigue to the regular season. However, for many Wizards fans, this regular season will be quite depressing. The team has very little hope of making the playoffs, is expected to finish with one of the worst records in the Eastern Conference, and is clearly in a rebuilding phase. Still, it’s not like nothing is going on this year! There are plenty of key matchups that Wizards fans and NBA fans in general might find entertaining to watch. Here’s a list:

Matches for beginners
The Wizards have three key promising recruits: Alex Sarr, Carlton CarringtonAnd Georges Kyshawn. Sarr is the second overall pick and he has shown flashes of greatness. However, fans wonder how he will bounce back from a Historic drop in shootings During Summer League, Carrington impressed with his shooting and versatility, and he will likely be a key leader for this team. However, most of the media attention is focused on Sarr. There will be plenty of opportunities for these rookies to go up against the other top rookies in the league, and it will surely be quite the spectacle. Here are some of those matchups:

Wizards’ schedule includes home stand to start season
The Wizards will play their season opener on October 24 at home against the Boston Celtics. This may not seem like a special event at first glance, as the Wizards play the Celtics quite often. However, this will be the first time the Wizards will play their season opener at home since 2018. The last time this happened, the Miami Heat won 113-112 against the Wizards’ arch-rivals. Kelly Olynyk get the winning game I think this match against the defending champions will not be as close.
Another surprise on the Wizards’ schedule is that five of the team’s first six games will be at home. In recent years, the Wizards have started their season with long road trips, forcing DC fans to wait quite a while to see their team in person. This time around, the Wizards will face the Celtics and Cavaliers on October 26 before their first road game against the Hawks. The Hawks will then face the Wizards two days later at home (see above), then they’ll face the Heat and Warriors before a road trip.

It’s always exciting to play against former teammates. There are quite a few former Wizards who made names for themselves in Washington but will be returning in different uniforms. Here are two of those key matchups to watch:
December 5, Wizards vs. Mavericks: Daniel Gafford returns to DC
February 26, Wizards vs. Blazers: The return of Deni Avdija
Additionally, the Wizards will face the Suns in Phoenix on January 16. That game against Bradley Beal It will be the team’s first and only game on national television this season.
While their record probably won’t include many wins, it should still be an exciting season for Wizards fans!
