The San Antonio Spurs’ roster seems set heading into training camp and the preseason. They’ll have to trim their roster from there, with 21 players under contract, 15 NBA roster spots and three three-player roster spots already taken. Still, no matter who makes the final roster, the Spurs should be much better in 2024-25. That’s because Victor Wembanyama is likely to make a big step Before with the addition of Chris Paullike Devil Vassell.

The Spurs are on the rise, to be sure, but their old rivals, the Phoenix Suns, are past their prime at best. While they have Devin Booker, who is in his prime, Kevin Durant, who is arguably their best player, is entering his 17th year. Meanwhile, Bradley Beal is 31 and not playing at the level he did in his prime with the Washington Wizards.

They also lack depth and are limited due to the second deck, but a bold trade proposal from Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley would change that. The blockbuster deal with the Spurs would shake up both rosters. Next, we’ll look at the Buckley trade and see if it makes sense for both teams.
