New Orleans, which released Ryan last week, is getting him back on a restructured contract after he was released.
Ryan, 27, is 6’6″ and played in 28 games for the Pelicans last season, averaging 5.4 points and 1.4 rebounds on 43.4 percent shooting and 45.1 percent from 3-point range.
He has played a total of 63 games with the Pelicans, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves since 2021 and is shooting 41.1% from three-point range.
Interestingly, New Orleans already has a multitude of types of wings, Brandon Ingram has Trey Murphy III has Herbert Jones And Jordan HawkinsThe Pelicans also added Dejounte Murray in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks to pair him in the starting backcourt with CJ McCollum.
Still, Ryan has proven himself to be a pretty deadly shooter at every stop, and in a league that’s increasingly perimeter-oriented, it never hurts to have someone with his skill set.
Regardless, more moves could and should be on the way for New Orleans.
“Since the (Murray) trade was announced, it felt like another move was coming,” wrote Kenneth Teape of SI.com“In their current configuration, the Pelicans have a big traffic jam on the wing and lack depth up front.”
