There’s plenty on the table for each of these top players, and Dallas is poised for another dominant season.
Oliver-Maxence Prosper will be entering his second NBA season at age 22 and desperately needs to have a better second season. Last season, as a rookie, Prosper barely played.
Prosper played 40 games but averaged less than nine minutes per game. With less than nine minutes played per game, Prosper averaged just three points per game. But Prosper still has potential.
Prosper scored a career-high 20 points in the Mavericks’ loss to the Houston Rockets on Dec. 22. But Prosper finished the regular season strong, scoring 16 points and 15 points in Dallas’ final two regular-season games. Prosper also shot 40 percent (4 of 10) from three-point range.
Giving up on Prosper wouldn’t be the best decision for him. With a team with significant guard depth, Prosper will be eager to succeed and earn playing time. Prosper also had time to learn from his freshman year to improve his game, and Prosper needs to improve in important areas.
Second-year players can see the game and understand it better. Prosper has a chance to learn and become an X-factor coming off the bench next season. The Mavs need their young player to improve, and Prosper is a player who has the potential to do so.
