Dani Olmo has made a stunning start to his FC Barcelona career in scored the winning goal in the team’s 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano.

It was an exciting moment for the summer signing, who had to be very patient for Barcelona to register him in the squad, just a day before the match.

But it wasn’t just the goal that caught everyone’s attention. Olmo’s celebration, which included a flick of his wrist in a gesture known as “Dame Time,” was a nod to NBA star Damian Lillard, a player famous for scoring game-winning points in critical moments.

This emblematic transfer, which Olmo had already made with RB Leipzig and the Spanish national team, has now made its way to FC Barcelona.

Milwaukee Bucks share Olmo video

Olmo’s celebration quickly went viral, catching the attention of the Milwaukee Bucks, the team that employs Lillard.

The Bucks shared a video on their official X profile, featuring a montage of Lillard and Olmo celebrating simultaneously – one scoring a basket, the other his first goal for Barca.

This moment is another indicator of the growing importance of the NBA in La Liga and in Spanish football in general.

Many NBA stars have visited stadiums such as the Camp Nou and the Santiago Bernabeu in recent years, with the latter even in talks with the NBA to host games at the stadium.

Nonetheless, Olmo’s goal against Rayo Vallecano could serve as a real confidence boost for the Spaniard as he looks to replicate his performances in the next game against Real Valladolid this weekend.
