The Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Paul George issued a stern response to Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards’ Remarks on the Michael Jordan EraAfter being named to the All-NBA Second Team and reaching the Western Conference Finals for the first time in his young career, Edwards has been compared to Jordan throughout the NBA playoffs.
However, Edwards I wished the comparisons would stopvia Lane Florsheim of the Wall Street Journal According to Edwards, Jordan played in an era that lacked great players beyond Jordan himself.
76ers star forward Paul George felt Edwards’ comments showed a lack of respect for the many great players who came before him, via the P Podcast with Paul George presented by Wave + Entertainment.
“I thought it was disrespectful to the game. I thought it was a very immature comment,” George said. “Obviously Anthony Edwards is super talented and has a huge talent for the future, but how far the game has come and how far it has come. [it’s grown]You have to pay dues to these guys who did it before us. And it’s the transition or translation between that time and his; they don’t really know much about Magic. [Johnson] And [Larry] Bird, you know. And as players, you have to know [those] guys.”
Generational differences in how kids get their news and entertainment may play a big role in how young players view the generations that came before them. Unlike Edwards, George grew up in an era when it was common to watch classic NBA games on cable TV, while the streaming era has taken over recently.
Anyway, George is not the first to criticize Edwardsand it probably won’t be the last because of Ant-Man’s take on Jordan’s NBA era.
Anthony Edwards Says Michael Jordan Was The Only “Talented” Player Of His Era
Two-time Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards doesn’t want to be known as the “new” Michael Jordan. He sees himself as one of the few who can do it, which is respectable for a 23-year-old rising star.

However, Edwards revealed that he believes that, unlike MJ, his era was filled with top-tier talented players.
“I wasn’t watching at the time, so I can’t speak to that,” he said. “They say it was harder then than it is now, but I don’t think anyone had that talent back then. [Michael Jordan] was the only one who really had talent, you know what I mean? That’s why when they saw Kobe [Bryant]“They were like, ‘Oh, my God.’ But now everyone has skills.”
Edwards admitted he didn’t watch Jordan-era games, and it shows.
