The Chicago Bulls beginner Matas Buzelis threw the ceremonial first pitch for the The Chicago White Sox as they hosted the Cleveland Guardians at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Buzelis was joined at the match by his teammate Patrick Williams and Bulls mascot Benny. He was seen before the game taking a few practice throws in preparation for the first pitch, which appeared to pay off after he threw the ball over the plate from the mound.

Unfortunately, Buzelis and Williams were not given a win after the Guardians blanked the White Sox 5-0 on Tuesday. The loss dropped the White Sox to 33-113 on the season, which is close the record of losses after 1900established by the New York Mets in 1962 (120).

Buzelis was selected 11th overall by the Bulls this year after averaging 14.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.9 blocks and one steal in G League Ignite. He had seven 20-point games, including a season-high 25 points on Dec. 14 in a win over the Rip City Remix.

The 19-year-old made his debut with the Bulls in the NBA Summer League, averaging 16.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in five games. He exploded for 28 points on July 14, tied for the second-best single-game performance by a rookie in Summer League.

After shining so far in his career, Buzelis will soon step onto the Bulls court. He is highly regarded for his versatility and scoring ability and should have the opportunity to compete for a significant role in the rotation.
