The Lakers have employed Dr. Vanessa Brooks as their head athletic coach, individuals with data of the scenario and never approved to talk publicly on the matter informed the Instances. The place on the Lakers’ medical workers was open after Roger Sancho left the group to take a job with the Phoenix Suns.
Brooks has labored with the Oklahoma Metropolis Thunder since 2019. She was the primary Black lady to earn twin certification as an athletic coach and bodily therapist.
She is the most recent rent as a part of a restructuring of the Lakers’ medical workers this offseason, with Brooks working below Dr. Leroy Sims, whom the crew employed as director of participant efficiency.
In response to Brooks’ LinkedIn profile, she is one in all two licensed trainers for the NBA’s Emergency Preparedness Committee, which develops cardiac, neck and spinal emergency protocols for the league.
The Lakers will maintain a media day Monday earlier than opening coaching camp Tuesday.
She is anticipated to be with the crew initially of coaching camp.
