You always like to see The Chicago Bulls players give back to their communities!

Dalen Terry was the last to do so, hosting a youth basketball camp at the University of Arizona. Now he joins Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu as another young Bull to host a community event in his home state. Dosunmu hosted his third annual party in Chicago this summer, while White hosted a basketball camp in North Carolina for the first time.

Even though this franchise continues to frustrate me, I’m glad they signed so many top players. They represent the city well.

  • Speaking of another Chicago great, Joakim Noah’s local basketball league just kicked off its third annual season! The One City Basketball League was created in partnership with over 20 organizations that focus on violence prevention. Men ages 16-25 can participate and even receive financial compensation. WGN has a little more on the event here.
  • So, does Jevon Carter play more this season? On one hand, Alex Caruso’s absence could open the door for someone with his on-ball defense and theoretical three-point shooting. On the other hand, he doesn’t necessarily fit into the current movement and didn’t show much merit in playing time last year. I mean, I couldn’t believe how bad he was shooting. His 32.9% shooting percentage was by far the worst of his career. He also came in just one year after shooting 42.1% from the field, a career-high 4.2 attempts per game! So was that year the exception or was last season the exception?
  • Things can’t be this bad again, can they?
  • Regardless, it would be nice if Billy Donovan could find him a more regular role. In theory, he’s the kind of player who should be valuable to a contending team (hence his success in Milwaukee). If he’s able to show signs of life in Chicago, I wouldn’t be surprised if another team came along and claimed him at the trade deadline. Now, would the Bulls get a lot for him? Probably not. But they’ll take whatever they can get!
  • Torrey Craig will be another interesting player to watch. I’m very surprised he decided to pick up his player option and stick around, but I’m not going to complain! You always need someone with some veteran experience in the locker room when you’re going through a youth movement, and Craig is known for being a true professional. Not to mention, it doesn’t hurt to have his defensive versatility and ability to space things out on the bench. If a young winger is struggling in a given game, Donovan should feel comfortable bringing Craig in to stop the bleeding.
  • Whether Craig can stay healthy, however, remains an open question. He was injured most of last season, playing just 53 games in total. Craig, 33, played at least 78 games in each of the previous two seasons.
