The Philadelphia 76ers will be the center of attention next season. Despite the rise of the Eastern Conference, the team has managed to stand out and differentiate itself from other rising teams thanks to the huge waves it made during the offseason.

After a masterclass in star acquisition under Daryl Morey by grabbing Paul George on the open market, management has followed suit with a series of discreet but smart moves that should ensure the team remains near, if not at, the top of the East in the 2024-25 campaign.

Although an improvement in the rankings can be expected, it seems that some are not really convinced that the team will achieve a significant one.

Following the release of the 2024-25 Regular Season ScheduleBleacher Report, written by Andy Bailey, has published its usual predictions of wins and losses for each team. However, he only predicts a modest improvement for Philadelphia in the standings.

Bailey set the magic number at 52 wins for the 76ers next season, largely due to the lack of a real jump in the win-loss chart (they won 47 games in 2023-24) with Joel Embiid and George being injury-prone anchors, especially given their ages.

Early-season predictions are often overstated, but the 76ers easily have the makings of a team that should flirt with 56 wins or more. Even factoring in the games Embiid and George will inevitably miss due to injuries or workload management, the club is now much better equipped to handle the absence of a star or two.

Perhaps the fact that the East is a much deeper pool than it used to be plays a role here, but the 76ers are a cut above most of their competition in the conference. As long as their stars stay relatively healthy, there is far too much two-way talent on this team to predict only a five-win increase. Hopefully 52 wins is their baseline for next season.
