The 21-year-old forward had a stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the Summer League before returning to Australia where he spent four years with the Sydney Kings. He is a 6-foot-7 power forward and reportedly received interest from several teams before choosing to join the Bucks.
It’s likely he’ll spend most of his time in the G-League with the Wisconsin Herd, where he’ll team up with fellow two-way players and Chris Livingston. However, he still has the opportunity to see playing time with the Bucks, so let’s break down the completed depth chart.
Point guards – Damian Lillard, Patrick Beverley, TyTy Washington (two-way), Ryan Rollins (two-way)
Shooting Guards – Malik Beasley, Pat Connaughton, AJ Green, Andre Jackson Jr.
Small forwards – Khris Middleton, MarJon Beauchamp, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Chris Livingston, Jaylin Galloway (two-way)
Power Forwards – Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jae Crowder, Danilo Gallinari
Centers – Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis
The roster is now set, and the Bucks have been magnificent since All-Star weekend, with five straight wins following last night’s victory against the Chicago Bulls. Four of those wins have seen the Bucks hold their opponents to under 100 points as Doc Rivers’ imprint on the team takes on a stronger effect.
Galloway adds space in the wings, which is starting to look crowded, but he and Livingston will likely spend the rest of the season with the Herd. Giannis Antetokounmpo also spent time playing center, and Rivers tested various lineups, with AJ Green being one of those who seized his opportunity and take your place in the rotationafter impressing Rivers.
The Herd owns a 12-12 record, and the addition of Galloway gives them another young player with a lot of potential to give minutes to. He has great two-way ability, and if he demonstrates that during his time in the G-League, then he could follow in Green’s footsteps and potentially earn a full contract in the future.
By the end of the season, not much should change in terms of the rotation since Rivers has clearly found a formula for winning, but the upcoming games will be huge tests to see where the Bucks stand. In March, they face the Clippers twice and the Lakers, the Warriors, the Kings, the Sixers, the Suns, the Celtics and the Thunder. These games will allow the Bucks to show what they are capable of and work on final changes to the rotation and rosters with the playoffs beginning in mid-April.
As for Galloway, this is a low-risk, high-potential move for everyone involved as he can showcase his skills in the G-League while the Bucks can evaluate how they see him moving forward .
Stay tuned for more analysis on the Milwaukee Bucks as we head into the final months of the regular season.
