The Paris Olympics were special for Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards for a multitude of reasons.
Not only did Edwards win his first career Olympic gold medal and celebrate his 23rd birthday with a surprise party, but he also got to share the track with his childhood idol, Kevin Durant. Edwards said Florsheim Alley of the The Wall Street Journal said that His most notable moment at the Olympics was making an alley-oop on a pass from Durant in the gold medal game against France.
“It was the best feeling of my life,” Edwards said. “I said [Durant] “I would have this picture framed and put it in my office for sure.”
Edwards took full advantage of the opportunity to play alongside Durant during their time with Team USA. The two players often played together. in partnership for shooting practice and spent time together off the field. They even developed a signature handshake during their short time as teammates.
While Edwards and Durant have formed a strong bond in Paris, they actually have some unfinished business when the 2024-25 NBA season begins. Edwards and the Timberwolves eliminated Durant’s Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs last season, so the 35-year-old will undoubtedly be motivated to get revenge on his younger counterpart this year.
