An intriguing reaction from Anthony Edwards to a question about the Minnesota Timberwolves sweep the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel.
“I’m not going to lie. I felt a little bad, just because he’s my favorite player of all time,” He jokingly referenced Kevin Durant during an appearance alongside the 35-year-old forward and Team USA teammate at the Fanatics Fest panel on Saturday, “I didn’t mean to send him home like that. It happened, man. I felt bad.”
After dominating the SunsTHE The Wolves continued to eliminate the Denver Nuggets and Serbian Nikola Jokic in seven games, before falling to The Dallas Mavericks and Slovenian Luka Doncic in the Western Conference finals. It was the franchise’s first appearance in the playoff semifinals since 2004.

Edwards, 23, averaged 27.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.6 blocks per game in 16 games in his third postseason with the Timberwolves, including 31 points per game in a four-game win over the Suns. In contrast, the two-time NBA champion averaged 26.8 points per game in the series.
Joining forces at the 2024 Olympics, they pushed the United States to gold in France. Edwards averaged 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.2 assists and 0.3 blocks per game, while Durant averaged 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.2 blocks per game.
