The month of March will make or break the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2023-24 season. The Lakers are likely to make the Play-In tournament, although they have time to improve and potentially avoid being the No. 9 or No. 10 seed.
However, a loss to the Sacramento Kings was costly as both teams vie for playoff positioning. Austin Reaves I admitted it was super frustrating. losing to the Kings and said the team needed to be better.
The upcoming schedule won’t get any easier for Los Angeles, but Reaves believes the team should rise to the challenge. With his competitiveness, Reaves hates losing and doesn’t want that feeling to keep coming back.
“I think you look at every day as an individual challenge,” Reaves said. “For me at least, losing is much worse than winning is good. I like winning but losing sucks. You go back and think well, what if we did this, I would do this.
“But then again, you play 82 games a year and another one is just around the corner. So you can’t dwell on it too long, you have to move forward and like you said, it’s a tough time, but we should accept it and really try to play the best basketball we can . If we do that, we think we have a chance to beat anyone.
The Lakers have shown they can beat any team on any night, but their inconsistency makes it difficult to trust them. Only time will tell if the purple and gold can figure things out before the regular season ends.
Austin Reaves discusses Lakers’ upcoming Bucks game
It’s hard not to anticipate the upcoming slate of games and wonder how the Lakers will fare. Los Angeles next draws the Milwaukee Bucks and Reaves was asked about the game.
“I mean, I didn’t really think about it. Obviously, they’ve been playing really well since the All-Star break. I think they struggled a little bit right before the All-Star break, but since they came back from the break, they’ve been playing high-quality basketball,” Reaves said.
“Obviously, they have Giannis and Dame, but also around that, they have pieces that compete in brilliance when you think of Pat and Bobby Portis. These are two guys who, every night you go on the court, are going to give 110% alongside guys who are super talented and making a lot of money in this league. So I didn’t really think about it too much, I was obviously thinking about this game. But we’ll have to play good basketball to beat them.
Playing against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard is a tall order for any team, so hopefully the Lakers learned from their loss to the Kings.
